HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority today opened a rare exhibition of Islamic masterpieces from the world-renowned Farjam Collection at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The event was attended by HE Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the DIFC and Managing Director of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and their excellencies the ambassadors of the UK, France and the United States.
Supported by the Hafiz Foundation, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, DIFC and Dr. Farhad Farjam, the owner of the Farjam collection, the exceptional exhibition spans almost the entire history of Islam and includes some of the rarest artistic masterpieces of the Islamic world. The exhibition displays historical art pieces from across the vast region between Andalusia and Mughal India, including copies of the Quran; manuscripts; illustrated books on science, mathematics and poetry; paintings and miniatures; finely-decorated metalwork; lacquer; glasswork; tiles; glazed pottery; woodwork; textiles; coins; jewellery; and carpets.
Abdulla bin Sougat, CEO of the DIFC Lifestyle Group, explained: "The Farjam collection is one of the finest privately-owned collections of Islamic art in the world. Assembled over the course of several decades and from a wide range of sources, its quality and breadth testify to the dedication of a passionate and insightful art collector."

We are striving not only to build one of the world's finest financial centres but, through events such as this exhibition, we also seek to promote the development of art in the wider region and enrich the cultural life of our community," added the CEO of the DIFC Lifestyle Group.
Saeed Al Nabouda, Chief Projects and Events Officer of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, pointed out: "It has been the overriding objective of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority to create a centre of artistic and cultural excellence in Dubai. The Farjam Collection is notable for having some of the finest examples of Islamic art. The exhibition of pieces from the collection will further promote the appreciation of the artistic and cultural heritage of both our region and the broader Islamic world."
The Gallery is open: Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 8pm; Saturday 12pm to 8pm.
