Who is DJ Zinc? Hailing from london's east end, Zinc first became involved in the dance music world via pirate radio, which led to the meeting of like minded DJs and producers at the birth of jungle - an exhilarating clash of breakbeats, basslines and samples that defined a generation of UK clubbing.
He went on to produce some of the scene's biggest anthems, most notably 'Super Sharp Shooter' and the remix of the Fugees' 'Ready Or Not' - both of which still devastate dancefloors to this day.
In 1996 Zinc launched the True Playaz label, alongside jungle veterans Pascal and DJ Hype and continued to produce and release many jungle and drum & bass anthems on True Playaz throughout the end of the 90s, making the label one of the biggest and most successful of the era.
In 2000 Zinc produced the genre defying '138 trek' - which went on to chart in the UK and single handedly created a whole new genre, establishing him outside of his native dnb.
In 2001 Zinc launched his own 'Bingo Beats' imprint, releasing breakbeat and drum & bass until 2007.
Recognised as one of the worlds premier DJs and innovative producers and having played at every major festival and major nightclub around the world for 10 years, it was instantly noticeable when, without public explanation, Zinc stopped taking bookings and releasing music throughout 2008.
Now in 2009, Zinc opens the doors of his incubator to reveal a new creation which moves to a house tempo. With sights set squarely at the dance floor Zincs brand of house is serrated with the ruggedness that saw him cut his own niche through jungle, drum & bass and breaks. Weighted with basslines from dubstep and jungle and infused rave influences, there's nothing polite about Zinc's new production or DJ sets, as he brings his unapologetic energy into the house arena.
With a slew of DJ dates, where Zinc showcases his sound and it's associated cousins it is safe to say that Zinc is making light work of the transition, moving from the summit of one scene to the peak of another with consummate ease.
Back in the lab, Zinc's working on a new LP entitled, 'Life Begins at Midnight'. He is keeping his cards close to his chest at the moment but we suggest that you set your clocks to 0000 hours and come on a journey with the DJ / Producer who always manages to stride one step ahead.
MC LOWQUI A host, a lyricist and a crowd entertainer, he brings a passion for drum n bass to the fore that is sure to electrify the dance. His love of the music always comes first and LowQui´s true skill is in matching his flow to the DJ to get the vibe of the night just right. With over a decade of experience at some of the biggest club nights across the UK and beyond, it´s no surprise that LowQui is Goldie´s number one MC of choice. In 2008, LowQui has continued his affiliation with Metalheadz as well as featuring alongside D-Bridge for the Exit Records boss debut album tour.
LowQui´s journey thorugh breakbeat and drum and bass began back in the days of the UK hardcore scene, when the emerging sounds of jungle introduced a new wave of ragga-influenced toasting and hosting in London´s raves and clubnights. Two MCs quickly rose to theforefront and caught LowQui´s attention: the now legendary Stevie Hyper D, famed for his double-time flow, and MC GQ with his razor-sharp delivery. Combining elements from both and inspired lyrically by the changing face of the city around him, LowQui forged his own style to bring conscious lyrics with maximum effect on the dancefloor. This notion of balance and harmony is at the core of LowQui´s style on the mic and comes from a philosophy embedded in all that he does: no wonder then that the regular London club night he helped to establish back in 2004 is named Essence of Chi.

What is GlobalFunk?
GlobalFunk, brain-child of 9714 Managing Partner, Ben McDonald, has established itself over the years as a great source for music that, although it may not be new to us, is certainly new to the region, specializing in Drum n Bass.
Originally started over 3 years ago, the GlobalFunk has collaborated with some of the finest DJs, musicians, local promoters and clubs alike and this time is no different working, as it is, with Infusion Magazine - the nations favourite entertainment guide - and Alpha - Dubai's most musically eclectic and adventurous venue.
Come find us on Facebook. We're there.
What is Drum ‘n' Bass?
Although due to its high tempo / high energy, aggressive approach to the dance floor, DnB has often been touted as the Heavy Metal of the electronic set; as tempos soar higher than Lindsay Lohan on a night out, the dance floor is regularly whipped into a frenzied mix of dancing and moshing (this explains why DnB-heads can only ever wear trainers; YOU trying doing this in heels and see how you get on)
Also known as Jungle and a kissing cousin of Garage, DnB's origins date back to reggae and ska, which can often be heard in DJ sets with MCs performing over the music with certain blend of Jamaican drawl and high-speed rap and often the DJ will break up the
Heavyweights in the Drum ‘n' Bass scene include such recognizable faces as Goldie (of Eastenders fame!), Roni Size and Andy C.
Be on the lookout for more DnB from GlobalFunk, or if Breakbeat is more your cup of tea you can even check out our sister operation, Bouce!. Contact us for more info on addresses below:
